Our Beloved Sarah......

Our Beloved Sarah................

This is going to be a very hard post for me to write, and one with many tears.

Our Sarah was sixteen years old this year. As a puppy she first lived with friends of my daughter Jill. They could not keep her because their children were too young to take care of a puppy.  Jill and Jerry gave her a wonderful home with them.

Jill had two other dogs at the time. They all got along for a good while. Than one day Sarah and Pupster got into a fight. Two females that all of a sudden did not get along. Sarah was injured and we brought her home with us. She lived with us for many years. And Blessed us with unconditional love.

She was so special and was our constant companion.

Sarah shared our every space with us.

Her constant companion besides us was our precious Smokey, they were together for 16 years. Smokey was 17 years old when he passed over to the Rainbow bridge on January 19, 2012.

One of Sarah's favorite things to do was to eat!!! Nothing got in her way when she was hungry!!

On June 24th, we put Sarah out to go to the bathroom. She never, ever, would leave this one area. Even when we had her outside with us, she would always come to the front door and wait to go in.
We don't know what happened on this day, but when my husband went to let her in, he could not find her. We didn't panic at first, because we knew she would not be far away. She could not hear or see, and always stayed close by.  That short time of looking went into days and nights of constantly looking for her. The neighbors came over to help us until 11pm. and again early the next morning.
We put posters out, called the vets and the SPCA and other neighbors to keep an eye out for her. No one could believe she was missing. Where could she have gone. She has had the same routine for years.

The heartbreak is so  unreal, as those of you who have lost one of  your furry family know. The unknowing is the worst part of what could have happened to her.  If she did go away to die, at least we know where she was. But not having anything as a reason is so very hard. We kept hoping and looking for these two weeks. We live in the country, so we don't know if a wild animal got her or what. I just pray she did not suffer.

It has been almost exactly 6 months since Smokey passed.  I know they are together now, as we have no hope that she is still living.

We have loved you in life and miss you so much. You will always be with us, as Smokey is.

Goodbye our Dear Sarah

  3. Oh Eileen ... I'm so sorry. Our fur babies have our heart, that's for sure. I hope you can feel some closure and rest in the fact that Sarah is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

  4. Thank you Patty.
I think it will be a long time to recover from her loss. Especially since we do not know what happened to her.
Watched a Barbara Walters special last night on getting to Heaven. And they said people that have had after life experiences, have seen their animals in Heaven. We just have to know we will see them again one day.
