Boiling Springs, Pa. is one of my favorite places to visit. Each season has it's own beauty.
It was settled by the Europeans prior to 1737. It gets it's name from the natural Artesian well springs located in and around the town.
Another story of the name comes from how the lake in the center of the town steams (as if boiling) in the winter, the water in the lake stays at 52 degrees Fahrenheit year round.
An Iron Forge in the center of town produced cannon for the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War.
The village also played a prominent role in the Underground Railroad prior to the civil War.
One of the streams flowing under a stone bridge that feeds into the lake.
You may get a chance to catch the sight of a Water Moccasin swimming in the clear water.
The lake is always hosting swans, and ducks.
You can also find a boat or two.
And the Spring time produces it's own beauty around the lake and the village.
Hope you enjoyed your visit with me. There are so many places and things to see. Some right in our own areas. I have heard so many people say, I know it is there, just haven't taken the time to visit.
People will come from distance to visit what we have near us. That is why I am learning ~To Take the Time ~ when ever we can, to see what is around us. You will be amazed!
Have a wonderful Spring Day!
Always a beautiful place to visit :-) The girls liked when we visited there as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a good afternoon!
